Case Study
Featured Project: Pepsi City Park Tennis Center, New Orleans, LA
This project began April, 2010 and was completed March, 2011. American Tennis installed 17 post-tension concrete courts and 10 modified HydroCourts. This project replaces the original City Park Tennis Center built in the 40's. This project was funded jointly by the city Katrina funds and the USTA.
The new facility was designed for proper viewing on the Championship Court with bleachers to watch exhibition matches. With this facility, the city of New Orleans plans to attract many USTA tournaments.
Post-tension was constructed because of the poor soil conditions in the area. Modified HydroCourts were chosen because of reduced maintenance and water requirements versus conventional above ground irrigation HarTru courts. HarTru Courts are easier on the body so you can play longer without the potential impact to your body experienced playing on a hard court. Please read more about Post Tension Concrete Courts and HydroCourts in the “New Construction” area of the website.
